As of 3 October 2026, the fresh UKPSC APO advertisement remains awaited. The latest reported RTI-based update is a requisition for recruitment to 74 Assistant Prosecution Officer posts sent to UKPSC on 2 September 2026, against a reported sanctioned strength of 137 posts and 76 vacancies.

137 Sanctioned

Reported sanctioned APO posts in the cadre.

76 Vacant

Reported vacant posts in the latest RTI-based update.

Prepare before the advertisement

What Should You Do While the Notification Is Awaited?

Finish the Law Core

Build BNS, BNSS and BSA around the previously tested APO areas rather than waiting for the form to open.

Build Uttarakhand Edge

Prepare Uttarakhand GK, Revenue Police and the Uttarakhand Police Act separately.

Start Both Modes

Practice objective MCQs and begin Mains answer writing early so the notification does not force a last-minute strategy shift.

Eligibility Snapshot Candidates Should Verify Now

LL.B. Qualification

The current framework requires a recognised law degree. Final-year candidates should verify whether the degree is complete by the notified eligibility cut-off.

Age & Relaxation

The present benchmark is 21–42 years, subject to applicable Uttarakhand category relaxation. The fresh cut-off date will control calculation.

Domicile / Category

Uttarakhand domicile/status becomes especially important where state reservation or another state-specific benefit is claimed.

Cut-off date matters as much as the rule

Age, degree possession, category status and certificate validity are normally tested with reference to dates stated in the recruitment notice. A candidate can satisfy the general rule but still become ineligible if the prescribed certificate or degree is not held by the required cut-off.

Prepare evidence before the portal opens

Keep your LL.B. records, identity details, domicile/category documents and name/date-of-birth records internally consistent. Correcting a mismatch after submitting an online form is harder than detecting it before registration.

This is also why the Notification page and the Eligibility page serve different purposes: this page tells you what the new advertisement must settle; the Eligibility page explains the present legal/recruitment framework so that you can prepare your documents and candidature in advance.

Application readiness

Common Notification & Vacancy Mistakes

Do not do this

  • Call the requisition itself the “UKPSC notification”.
  • Publish a category breakup before UKPSC publishes it.
  • Assume the previous age cut-off date will repeat.
  • Use a tentative vacancy number as a guaranteed final post count.

Do this instead

  • Track UKPSC recruitment notices and corrigenda.
  • Keep eligibility documents ready.
  • Prepare on the established exam framework.
  • Re-check every changed condition after the fresh PDF appears.
Understand the pipeline

How an APO Recruitment Moves from Departmental Vacancy to UKPSC Advertisement

A vacancy figure becomes meaningful only after you understand where it sits in the recruitment process. The prosecution department identifies staffing requirements and vacant posts, the competent State authority processes the requisition, and UKPSC then issues the recruitment advertisement after receiving and examining the requisition. The advertisement is the document that converts an administrative requirement into an open recruitment process for candidates.

1. Vacancy Position

The department identifies sanctioned strength, working strength and vacancies. These figures can change because of promotion, retirement, transfer, litigation, restructuring or later administrative decisions.

2. Requisition

The recruiting department forwards the number of posts proposed for direct recruitment along with category/roster information and applicable service-rule details. A requisition is therefore a recruitment input, not a candidate-facing advertisement.

3. UKPSC Advertisement

UKPSC publishes the candidate-facing notice containing the final advertised posts, eligibility, category breakup, dates, fee, application procedure, examination scheme and instructions. For an aspirant, this is the controlling recruitment document.

Why this matters for the 74-post update:

The present 74-post requisition is highly relevant because it shows that recruitment action has moved forward, but candidates should not convert that figure into a final vacancy claim until UKPSC publishes the advertisement.

Reservation roster

When Will the Category-wise UKAPO Vacancy Breakup Become Reliable?

The category-wise vacancy table should be taken from the fresh UKPSC advertisement or an official corrigendum. General Uttarakhand reservation rules can be studied in advance, but the actual number of UR, SC, ST, OBC, EWS and horizontal-reservation posts depends on the roster applied to this recruitment.

What You Can Prepare Now

Your category certificates, domicile/status documents, EWS/OBC validity requirements, PwBD or other special-category documents where applicable, and the basic age/qualification framework.

What Must Wait for the Advertisement

The exact category-wise vacancy count, application cut-off date, age-reference date, certificate-reference date and any recruitment-specific relaxation or document format.

Why the category breakup must wait for the advertisement:

A cadre may have a certain number of vacant posts, and the department may send a requisition for a particular number, but the advertisement still has to apply the service roster and the reservation rules that govern the recruitment. That is why the eventual table of UR, SC, ST, OBC, EWS and horizontal-category vacancies cannot safely be reconstructed merely from the figure of 74 requisitioned posts.

For an aspirant, the practical lesson is simple: use the 74-post requisition as a signal that recruitment work has moved forward, but do not use it to calculate your category’s seats, cut-off probability or “safe score”. Those decisions should start only after UKPSC publishes the official vacancy table and any corrigendum that follows it.

Read the notice correctly

What to Check in the Fresh UKPSC APO Notification — in This Order

PriorityWhat to verifyWhy it matters immediately
1Post name, department and total vacanciesConfirms that the notification is actually for Assistant Prosecution Officer recruitment
2Essential qualificationDetermines whether you can apply
3Age cut-off and relaxationsEligibility may depend on the exact reference date
4Category-wise vacancy tableShows the actual recruitment roster
5Application dates and feeControls the candidate action window
6Selection process / syllabusConfirms whether the established Prelims–Mains–Interview scheme has changed
7Certificate/document instructionsPrevents later rejection during scrutiny or verification
Once the notice arrives

Your First 72 Hours After the UKAPO Notification Is Published

Day 1 — Verify

Read the notification fully, not just social-media summaries. Mark eligibility, dates, category rules, syllabus, negative marking and document requirements.

Day 2 — Apply Carefully

Complete the form while there is still time to correct errors. Recheck spelling, category, medium, qualification and uploaded documents before final submission.

Day 3 — Rebuild the Plan

Compare the fresh syllabus with your existing preparation. If UKPSC changes any topic, paper or mark distribution, update the study calendar immediately rather than restarting everything.

Preparation principle:

The notification should refine your preparation plan, not start it. A serious aspirant should already have the current criminal codes, Uttarakhand-specific subjects and test routine underway.

Document map

Understand the Difference: Requisition, Advertisement, Corrigendum and Admit Card

DocumentWhat it tells youWhat it does not safely tell you
Departmental requisitionHow many posts the department has proposed to fill and the administrative basis sent to the recruiting commission.Final application dates, candidate instructions, exam dates or guaranteed advertised category breakup.
UKPSC advertisementControlling candidate-facing recruitment terms: advertised posts, eligibility, dates, fee, selection process and application instructions.Future changes later introduced by an official corrigendum.
Corrigendum / addendumAny official correction or modification to vacancies, dates, eligibility, syllabus or procedural instructions.Anything outside the scope of the correction actually issued.
Admit card / exam noticeExamination date, centre/reporting instructions and stage-specific directions.Changes to substantive eligibility unless separately notified.
Practical rule:

When two documents appear inconsistent, read the later official document together with the original advertisement. Do not rely on screenshots or coaching summaries where UKPSC has issued a formal correction.

Application quality control

A 12-Point UKAPO Application Audit Before Final Submission

Identity

  • Name matches certificates
  • Date of birth is identical across records
  • Father’s / mother’s name is consistent
  • Valid mobile and email are active

Eligibility

  • LL.B. status entered correctly
  • Age calculated on notified cut-off
  • Category claimed only if eligible
  • Domicile/status checked where benefit is claimed

Submission

  • Photograph/signature meet specifications
  • Fee status is successful
  • Final form PDF is downloaded
  • Application number is stored safely

This audit matters because many recruitment problems are not legal-knowledge problems—they are data-entry, document-validity or category-claim problems discovered only during scrutiny or document verification.

Read vacancy data intelligently

How to Interpret Vacancy Numbers Without Overestimating Your Chances

A larger vacancy figure is encouraging, but it should not change the quality of preparation. Category distribution, eligibility pool, paper difficulty, negative marking, attendance and stage-wise cut-offs all affect competition. Vacancy count is an administrative fact—not a “safe score” calculator.

Useful use of vacancy data

Understand recruitment scale, track whether the process is moving, check your category in the final roster and decide whether to prioritise the cycle immediately.

Misleading use of vacancy data

Predicting cut-offs, assuming a seat is “easy”, reducing study hours, or calculating selection probability before UKPSC has even conducted the examination.

Monitoring system

A Better Way to Track the UKAPO Notification Without Checking Random Sources Daily

Primary Source

Check the UKPSC recruitment-notification area and the Commission’s announcements. Treat this as the final source for the advertisement and corrigenda.

Secondary Verification

Use the DLM UKAPO hub for a student-friendly explanation of what changed, but verify the underlying official document for legal/recruitment conditions.

Action File

Keep one folder containing the advertisement, corrigenda, submitted form, fee receipt, admit card and category documents. This prevents last-minute document confusion.
