The Haryana Judiciary / HCS Judicial Branch recruitment is conducted through Haryana Public Service Commission and the Selection Committee constituted for judicial branch recruitment.
The rules updated up to 29.01.2025 state that the examination is conducted in three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Viva-Voce.
HPSC handles important recruitment steps such as inviting applications, screening applications, issuing roll numbers and admit cards. The Selection Committee handles question papers, evaluation and viva-voce as per the rules.
The Haryana Judiciary Exam is the recruitment examination for appointment as Civil Judge Junior Division / Judicial Magistrate in the Haryana Civil Service Judicial Branch.

For reference, the last notification invited applications for 174 posts of Civil Judge Junior Division:
The last notification included category-wise breakup for General, Scheduled Castes of Haryana, Backward Classes-A, Backward Classes-B, EWS, Ex-Servicemen and PwBD categories.
⚠️ Important Note:
Final vacancy number and category-wise breakup for Haryana Judiciary 2026 will be governed by the official notification once released.
The official rules require that the candidate must hold a Bachelor of Laws degree from a university established by law and approved/recognised by the Bar Council of India, and must have knowledge of basic computer application for usage purpose.
The last vacancy notification clarified that the expression "Degree of Bachelor of Laws" means a degree entitling the candidate to be enrolled as an Advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961.
In the last HPSC vacancy notification, the candidate had to be not less than 21 years and not more than 42 years of age on or before 31.01.2024, subject to relaxations.
The updated rules state that a person should not be less than 21 years and not more than 40 years or such age as may be fixed by Government from time to time. The rules also provide relaxation for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class candidates up to 45 years or as fixed by Government.

Each question has five options: A, B, C, D and E. If the candidate attempts a question, one of A, B, C or D must be darkened. If the candidate does not attempt the question, E circle must be darkened.
If none of the five circles is darkened, 0.8 mark is deducted.
If a candidate does not darken any of the five circles in more than 10% questions, i.e. 13 questions, the candidate is disqualified.
In the last notification, a candidate had to secure minimum 150 marks in prelims, and 100 marks for reserved category candidates excluding EWS, to appear in mains.
